Introduction
Emily Wagner is an artist living in Los Angeles. She has shown her work extensively in Los Angeles, Texas, New York and Frankfurt and is represented by the Acuna-Hansen Gallery in Chinatown. Emily is known for her detailed works on paper and her last two solo shows have received “Pick Of The Week” in the LA WEEKLY.
Emily creates original works of doggie art in watercolor and gouache that go beyond the typical portrait. Composition and scale are important elements to her overall approach which involves cutting out the painting and pasting it onto a custom chosen background, taking the whole piece to a new level of aesthetic sensibility. The pieces are modern, whimsical and stylish, a bit of humor and a bit of kitsch. They are portraits for the dog lover who wants something and funky and fun and has a keen eye for design.
Emily will paint your dog with a best friend, toy or lounging on his favorite couch. She works from color photographs and the more the better! You can either work together to come up with the best background style and color for your doggie or Emily can pick it out herself.
Emily is mommy to two small dogs, Baba the Chihuahua and Flo-Flo, the mutt-mutt.
It’s just a coincidence that her nickname is “Wags.” Really.
